Pharma council to upgrade courses

Nashik: New trends in health sciences are bound to change the way medicines are prescribed. Gene therapy and organ replacement will bring major changes in pharmacy. The Pharmacy Council of India is all set to revise the syllabus for pharmacy courses to keep abreast with new trends in medical sciences, said B Suresh, president of the Pharmacy Council of India who was in Nashik to attend academic events.
“We are in the process of introducing major changes in pharmacy syllabus. Research work should be an important component of education. The website of the Pharmacy Council will reflect proposed changes and accept suggestions from academics,” he said. The Council website will be updated with latest syllabus, expert lectures, references and sources by May 2019
Suresh said all universities in Maharashtra must accept the course designed by the council by next academic year. Pharmacy colleges affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) took two additional sessions to adopt the PCI syllabus from 2018-19 for both BPharm and MPharm. Mumbai University has still not accepted the course framed by the council.
“The Council is coordinating with the universities in Maharashtra. We have accepted their objections and suggestions. We are ready to make revisions accordingly. If institutes fail to accept the syllabus even after the revisions, PCI will take disciplinary action,” he said.


Speaking of bogus pharmacists, Suresh said PCI is in the process of introducing a centralised system to detect fake pharmacists. “Pharmacist Registration Tracking System is the full proof mechanism and it is ready for implementation. All pharmacists will register themselves with the Central government with this system. This will make us easier to find fake pharmacists,” he said.

Suresh attended a syllabus orientation workshop organised by MGV’s Pharmacy College at Tidke Colony. At the workshop he stressed on the next level of growth in the pharmacy profession, job placement for graduates, and the relevance of the present system of education

SELECTION PROCESS :-
Candidates must possess a minimum score of 40% marks in the essential qualification. NOTE :- Candidate has to enter exact percentage of marks while filling the Online Physical Application form i.e. rounding off of percentage is strictly not allowed. ( e.g.40.007% means 40.007%)
SELECTION METHODOLOGY :- The selection methodology will comprise the following stages :-
(a) Computer Based Test.
(b) Skill Test i.e. Physical Test / Driving Test / Physical Efficiency Test / Stenography Test / Typing Test (wherever applicable) etc. (i) The Selection of the candidates shall be done through a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by PST/ PET/Driving test/ Typing Tests / Stenography test etc.wherever applicable. The candidates have to qualify at each stage separately.
(ii) Skill test shall be conducted for posts
(iii) The Computer Based Test (CBT) is tentatively scheduled in last week of March’2019. (iv) Candidates should indicate their choice of test centre in the online application.
(v) ONGC reserves the right to add, cancel or change any of the aforementioned test cities at its discretion.
(vi) Details of the schedule of CBT shall be shared with the candidates separately.
(vii) SC/ST/PwD candidates attending the CBT (Written test) and whose mailing address is beyond municipal Limits of the test city will be reimbursed to & fro second class rail / bus fare of the shortest route from their mailing address on production of proof.
FORMAT OF COMPUTER BASE TEST (CBT) :
a. All Questions shall be multiple choice objective type for a total of 100 marks.
b. There will be NO negative marking in CBT.
c. Total duration of the test shall be 2 hours.
d. The test shall be in English and Hindi. However those candidates who opt for Hindi as the language of choice the test shall be bilingual i.e. in both Hindi and English. For the post of Jr.Asstt.(OL) the test will be in Hindi.
e. PwD candidates shall be given compensatory time i.e.20 minutes per hour (total 40 Minutes). Scribe may be provided by ONGC to those PwD candidates in the category of Blindness and Locomotor disability who wish to avail one. The provision of scribe can be allowed on Production of a certificate to the effect that the person concerned has physical limitation to write and scribe Is essential to write examination on his behalf, from the Chief Medical Officer/ Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent of a Government health care institution as per proforma prescribed by GOI.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS :
(a) All applicants must fulfill the essential requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying. JOB PURPOSE: 
The incumbent will join our Clinical IHC and Pathology team to provide support within the Immuno-oncology space, through the strategic application of cutting-edge pathology image analysis and bioinformatics approaches.  The successful candidate must have experience in utilizing pathology image analysis software in the quantification of IHC staining expression, including tumor/stroma classification and cellular feature extraction. The candidate should be able to perform statistical analyses and data visualization using data analysis packages such as R, Python, and/or MATLAB.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• Hands-on implementation/support of pathology whole slide image analysis tools and technology.
• Working alongside pathologist and scientists in the clinical IHC-pathology group to manage, prepare and analyze pathology whole slide images to support Immuno-Oncology and other disease areas.
• Perform bioinformatics analyses and data visualization, including analytics associating image analysis features with response and survival data using cox regression models, hypothesis testing, ROC analysis, and other statistical tools
• Active participation in the testing of pathology image management and analysis systems, tools and technology
• Prepare and present findings from image analysis projects to other groups within BBRC and BMS.
• Collaborate with other image scientists to propose, review and finalize future image analysis algorithm development and project work
Qualification and Experience
PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related discipline with 1-2 years of experience; or M.S. with 5-6 or more years of related experience in a pathology lab or pharmaceutical or biotech company
.
SKILLS:
• Experience in any digital pathology analysis software packages is preferred
• Excellent programming skills in one or more analytics packages such as R, Python and/or MATLAB.
• Knowledge of various digital imaging scanner and/or experience imaging chromogen and fluorescent stains is desired.
• Prior experience in developing image analysis algorithms in feature extraction of tumor, stroma, and various cell types through stains and morphometric features is preferred.
• Has developed and deployed image analysis workflows for capture, organization and storage in a GLP-like environment.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, and rigorous and creative thinking
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to collaborate effectively with lab scientists and pathologists
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to handle several concurrent, fast-paced projects.
• The ability to work across organizations to define and solve problems that will benefit the whole organizations.
• Capable of establishing strong working relationships across the organization.
• Background in Oncology/Immuno-Oncology is a plus
• Familiarity with tumor pathology, cancer biology and image analysis is preferred.
