Job Description
- Conducts sterile compounding pharmacy inspections and specialized cases involving sterile compounding.
- Conducts trainings and gives presentations regarding sterile compounding to investigative staff and licensees.
- Conducts pharmacy inspections and specialized cases involving drug delivery systems within hospitals, nursing homes and facilities requiring permits.
- Conducts and assists other investigative staff in drug accountability audits.
- Provides technical assistance to MQA investigators in specialized cases involving drug-related investigations.
- Provides technical expertise in rule making and statutory review as requested.
- Works with Department drug enforcement program.
- Investigates violations discovered during the inspection process.
- Prepares investigative reports, audit reports and probation reports.
- Testifies at hearings, provides professional assistance to the legal staff, investigative staff and other regulatory agencies.
- Serves subpoenas and administrative complaints.
- Conducts on-site inspections prior to approval for permitting new pharmacy establishments and change of location requests to determine compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Ensures procedures in institutional pharmacies are adequate and adhere to policies and procedures established for the facility.
- Reviews drug delivery systems to insure compliance with rules and regulations pursuant to written policy and procedure for the facility.
- Assists in the orientation and training of investigative staff in pharmacy and drug related investigations.
- Performs other related duties as required including providing assistance as needed in response to and recovery following natural or man-made disaster
Candidate Profile
- Licensure as a pharmacist in accordance with Florida Statute 465 and one-year professional experience in the practice of pharmacy.
- 2 years of direct or indirect Sterile Compounding experience.
- Must have a valid Florida State driver's license, satisfactorily complete a background investigation, fingerprinting, drug screening and participation in direct deposit are requirements for employment.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in pharmacy can substitute for the required experience; OR
- Pharm D from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience; OR
- Doctorate from an accredited college or university in pharmacy can substitute for the required experience.
- Proficient in computer skills; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; Knowledge of the principles, practices, standards and terminology used in the practice of pharmacy. Ability to provide training to staff members. Ability to develop and maintain a perpetual inventory control system. Ability to evaluate pharmacy methods, procedures, and services. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
