SERB Overseas Visiting Doctoral Fellowship (SERB-OVDF)

Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), a Statutory body of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India has launched SERB Overseas Visiting Doctoral Fellowship (SERB-OVDF) Scheme for creating a talented pool of internationally active and trained manpower.
The Scheme offers opportunities for PhD students admitted in the Indian institutions for gaining exposure and training in overseas universities/institutions of repute and areas of importance to the country for period up to 12 months (extendable up-to a maximum of six months on the case-to-case basis, based on performance evaluation) during their doctoral research.

The selected fellows will be paid a monthly fellowship amount equivalent to US $ 2000, one-time Contingency / Preparatory allowances of Rs. 60,000/- to cover visa fee, airport transfer charges, medical insurance etc. The selected fellows will also be provided shortest route economy class air fare from their place of work in India to the place of the host institute and back. One additional to and fro travel cost would also be provided to the fellow, if the period of stay is one year or more. Students should make their own arrangement for accommodation etc. One visit, each by the Indian supervisor to the Overseas Institution where the student is working and overseas faculty to the host Indian Institution of the student during the tenure of the fellowship is also admissible under the Scheme.
Call for proposals under this scheme will be open from 1st May to 30th June, 2018. Eligible researchers are encouraged to submit their proposals through online system (www.serbonline.in).

New Delhi: Trade margins charged by drug stockists and chemists must be capped, government think tank NITI Aayog recommended, a move that promises to bring down drug prices while trimming industry profits.
The recommendation, if accepted, will bring down the prices of scheduled drugs which are under price control, and non-scheduled drugs which are not. Trade margin is what wholesalers and retailers earn by selling the medicines.
At its meeting on 11 April in the Prime Minster’s Office , the think tank recommended a maximum trade margin of 24% on first point of sale (i.e. stockist, wholesaler, distributor or hospital) for scheduled drugs and 30% for non-scheduled drugs, two people aware of the matter said. For this, the government will need to make suitable amendments to the Drug Price Control Order (DPCO) 2013.
The drug industry claims scheduled drugs earn 8% and 16% margin for stockists and retailers, respectively, whereas for non-scheduled drugs, they are 10% and 20%. India’s drug price-setting body National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) uses these margins to fix prices. However, there have been allegations that actual margins are far higher.

Desirable Attributes : Any diploma/ Course in specialist Pharmacy.

After scrutiny of the applications received on or before 10 May 2018 short listed candidates will be informed through e-mail and/or on telephone to attend the interview. Applicants must ensure that they give the correct e-mail ID and telephone Nos. Appointing authority reserves the right to reject/cancel applications based on incomplete applications/ certificates and mandated qualifications/experience/without assigning any reasons.
Short listed candidates will only be called for Interview.
